Originally built circa 1880s by the region’s founding family, The Macarthurs, our lovingly converted guest house on our classic Victorian-era estate whisks you away to a genteel time when life moved at a slower rhythm.

While the main house was once home to the town’s various doctors – most famously, Dr Crookston – the guest house was originally the cook’s quarters. Almost a century and a half later, it retains its old-world charm and classic B&B ambience while providing tasteful, modern comforts and conveniences.

With private quarters boasting elegant period details surrounded by a lush green courtyard bordered by stately Jacarandas and just a short stroll from the heart of Camden town, Dr Crookston’s perfectly captures the essence of Victorian-era elegance and Australian architectural heritage.

Wonderful stay

Lovely old heritage home which has been tastefully redecorated. Everything was pristine, and we were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. Heating and a comfortable duvet made it very cosy on cold nights. Camden is magical, and I recommend this gorgeous cottage. Don’t forget to ask about the history of the wonderful home and the whole area!

Wish our stay was longer

From the moment we booked, the communication was great, and when we arrived, we were made to feel very welcome. The home was very easy to find, clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. We loved looking through the book showing the history of Camden and its surrounds, and the sound of the church bell was just beautiful. Easy walking distance to the Main Street, which offers many dining options. Lovely home and grounds; would definitely stay again.
