Tim Freedman’s Moonlit Deck
An Intimate Live Music Event in Camden NSW
Friday 29 August 2025
Tim on stage – 7pm
Gate open from 4.30pm
75 John Street, Camden NSW
After the sold out success of the Love This City 25 Years tour in 2024, Tim Freedman is ready to strip things back, have a chat, and get his cabaret on.
Tim will take you on a journey through his repertoire, recount some new tales from his adventures in showbiz, and reveal untold stories about the genesis of the best known Whitlams songs.
His steady hand will guide you through the highlights of his nine album catalogue with songs such as “Blow Up the Pokies” and “No Aphrodisiac”, and into some lesser known detours including the recent country outing, The Whitlams Black Stump album “Kookaburra”.
Tim Freedman will perform with acclaimed pedal steel and electric guitarist Ollie Thorpe. Support artist TBC.
TIM FREEDMAN – LEGENDARY SINGER, SONGWRITER & PIANIST
Tim Freedman is the lead singer, songwriter and pianist in legendary Australian band The Whitlams.
Named after Labor Prime Minister Gough Whitlam who roused the country from its slumber in 1972, the band released five Gold and Platinum albums in a row from 1995 to 2006, and then took a creative break until three years ago.
The Whitlams is best known for putting literate pop back onto the airwaves in 1997 when, through a sea of grunge, “No Aphrodisiac” was awarded Best Song at the ARIA Awards, where the band also won Best Group while still on their own independent label. Its piano-based indie folk/rock shows are a cultural touchstone in Australia.
Since 2022 a reinvigorated Freedman led The Whitlams in a resurgence, touring heavily and releasing two new albums – Sancho (2022) and, with an Americana version of the band – Kookaburra (2024). The latter line up is called The Whitlams Black Stump, and the album went to no. 1 on the ARIA Australian Country Album chart, where it still sat at no. 4 eight weeks after release.
